Coaching can be many things depending upon the coach and the individual being coached.

Coaching can be classified as Life Coaching, Executive Coaching, Career Coaching, Career Transition Coaching, Communication Coaching, Business Coaching, Student Coaching, Dissertation Coaching and more.

Since Coach Bob sees many major parellels between coaching an athlete and a non-athlete, he uses Active Coaching.

Active coaching premises apply to everyone:
    1) Everyone has large resources that they never use - both internal and external.
    2) Everyone can use help from others to perform at their best.
    3) Goal-setting and planning usually lead to better results, even though the results aren't always what was expected.
    4) The road travelled is often worth more than the goal.

Acitive Coaching involves assisting/supporting individuals in setting goals, planning activities, evaluating activities and in other ways helping the individual form their lives in ways that are in accordance with the individua'ls own goals and values.

The methods in Active Coaching for helping the individual find/set their goals and values usually involve formulating questions, guided partially by theory, but mostly by coaching experiences with other individuals and their successes in solving their problems and striving for their goals.

Coach Bob believes that most success in all areas is the result of training and planing. An important question is often what qualities to train and how to train them. He has found, for example, that most people benefit from some type of mental training.
